Note: Any reader following this blog keep in mind this is a post from November, 2004 recovered from a cardboard box archive and placed in chronological order. These are Chuck Lee’s initial drawing of Buck’s plans for the home we live in now (in 2017).
Our house plans are ready! Better yet, we found a builder who wants to build it and has a crew of his regular subcontractors who are to go as soon as the plans get county approval. The huge pile of storm debris in front of our gate got picked up this week, and our land line phone is working again. Quite a few people had told us there was “no way” our project could get started anytime in the next year because of all the Hurricane Ivan repair work. “They” also said it would be “impossible” to get materials. Turns out so many crews from out of state have come in to help that a great deal has been accomplished in these first two post-Ivan months, enabling some of the regular local builders to start new homes again, along with continuing repair work. Except for a two to three week delay on roof shingle orders, obtaining other building materials is no longer a problem. So it looks like we’re off to the races on yet another exciting adventure.
