 Maggie Loves

 She’s the raw flame
The live wire
She prays like a Roman
With her eyes on fire

from Josie, by Steely Dan

Buck is the object of the burning light in Maggie’s eyes. He has gotten out of the truck to pick up some (more) fallen limbs. She follows his every move as closely as I do. If it weren’t unreasonable, I would be jealous. Maggie considers the seat by the window in the front of the truck her domain, but will concede to the club seat in back if I insist on coming along, as long as I acquiesce to an occasional lick on my elbow or ear.

That’s my kind of deal. Everybody wins.
