full circle in the hundred acre wood

Tomorrow will be a day of “first” adventures:

  • First time Buck and I have been to Litchfield By The Sea on the Atlantic Ocean in South Carolina.
  • First time we have traveled out of town with a grandchild.
  • First time that young person has flown on an airplane. We will experience it with fresh eyes, too, not through the “oh window as we fly over our hometown, staggered by the beauty, knocked back by the sheer wonder of flight.

Shorts, t-shirts, swim suit, sandals. Dinners at the home of our good friends down the bike path from where we’ll be staying. Early morning walks on the beach.

My usual nagging dread of a trip has receded, and I smile as the hot iron presses a crease into the cuff of my white cotton shorts.

Where did I put those bangle bracelets, anyway?

  1. Can’t be bad with a grandkid. You are making memories!

Yep. I’m a lucky woman. If I had one of those “If I had known grandkids were so much fun I would have them first” t-shirts, it would say, “Grandkids are so much fun I had them instead!

Speak. Leave a memory.
