LONGLEAF STORIES

Yesterday was the first day of Spring Break for the G-kids. Their parents were working, so the plan was for them to hang out with Buck and me most of the day.

I had barely pulled into their driveway and turned off the ignition, when this Eastern Bluebird appeared.

Yes, TwitchyB, I will ride with you.

Even after the children were in the car, he continued to flutter and perch.

When I turned the ignition key, he flew a short distance to a nearby tree.

Later in the day, the kids and I took a walk around Longleaf. We spotted this nest.

Maybe the bluebird just wanted to hitch a ride home.

Ah, the wild life of Spring Breakers.

Wow. That’s amazing. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bluebird that close up — the color is divine. No wonder there’s a bluebird of happiness!
