LONGLEAF STORIES

full circle in the hundred acre wood

Breakfast was honey almond yogurt with fresh sliced South Carolina peaches.

Huge hydrangea blossoms surrounding a fragrant white butterfly ginger sit in a plastic jug on the kitchen counter.

Grandchildren splash in the pool. They egg Maggie on to bark at them when they do cannonballs from the deep end.

After lunch, Buck will take Andie to practice driving. Her driver’s license test is tomorrow. Remember when you got your first license?

Interesting, kind, fun, good kids. How lucky can a step-grandmother get?

I’m outta here. Time to hit the pool!

Hydrangeas and last night’s supper. The salmon is glazed with a honey, soy, lime juice and dijon mustard mixture — one of my favorite no-fuss no-muss recipes.

A pool…that’s what I need…maybe twice a year, if we’re lucky to have summer in Alaska. Enjoy. And that salmon looks good. I’ll have to pop on over to the river and fish out some dinner.

Mm, pretty, flowers and food. Sounds like your grandmother gig is a good one. And I hope Andie does well on the test.
